Ta-da! First sweater COMPLETED!

It's been almost a week since completing the sweater, and I'm almost blase about it. Sure, I knitted this thing almost exclusively for the past 3.5 months, taking pieces of it with me to California, Israel, and Washington. Sure, it was knit on size 5 needles, which in retrospect was bit crazy. Sure, it took up an entire afternoon to carefully stitch it up. I've worn it once. I can move on and start sweater #2 (already started!) that I've been anticipating starting for the last month or so. It should be EASY in comparison. It's knit on size 7 needles - huge, really, in comparison.

But it's time for a photo, isn't it?

It's a Rowan Tweed Yarn & pattern(all Rowan brand yarns are incredibly expensive, having been spun in a barn in the Yorkshire moors, or something like that. Their pattern books show fashionably pale and wispy models photographed on cloudy days, with wispy windswept hair and rosy cheeks. Men and women :-).

The next pattern is called the "ribby cardi" and is seen at chicknits.com. I'm doing it all in one color - kind of a rust color - that I got on sale (!) when I got the Expensive Rowan tweed. That Rowan cost (with a generous 25% discount) $50, where the wool for the next sweater was about $28 (and it's washable 100% wool). It seems to be "normal" to spend at least $50 on yarn for a sweater, if not More if it's fancy wool. I don't blink twice at spending it for the yarn, but I'd scowl at it a fair amount if I were buying it for real. How silly we knitters are.

Anyway, my point was I'll upload some other photos in a bit - when D gives me my camera back, since he was downloading photos from last night's Quartermaster ball for the scouts. I also want to take a photo of a scarf I'm about 3/5 complete to show y'all the pattern.

In the meantime - the wardrobe I bought about a month back to add storage space near the door. $200 buys me an antique that I can trash by putting it right next to the radiator. Everyone's happy.
